Walking On Paper: The End?

05/02/2023

Well if you add the stuff from Room A Day and Walking On Paper since 04/24/2023 I have be doing this for 114 days. Which is quite a thing for me. As most things fizzle after a few weeks. I promise myself it this becomes more of a chore than fun I will move on to other things. The last few posts were a struggle to get posted. I think it is a time management issue and hopefully I can get that worked out. So for now I am going to take a break from daily logs projects. The break will be as long as I need it to be recharge my interest in a long term project like this.

If I decide to leave Chad and company in limbo I may restart the Walking on Paper concept with some new ideas and what not. If I do that I will post a massive dump of where the “story” of the first quest was going and what the ideas were there for a second quest.

I may come up with a small gap project to keep my blog active until I decide what the future plans are. If I do it probably be more simple things that are less of a time sink until I get my groove back. Also might share some ideas for other game projects that have been bouncing around in my head.

Walking On Paper: Days 76-81

04/24/2023

Day 76 04/19/2023
Ash and Carrie joined the group while they were in city (H6). They also repaired Brick. The group decided to head to Dungeon #4 (M13) since they finally had the key. The dungeon was first found by Chad on Day 21. The headed east though a desert (G7), mountains (G8) with a catacomb and ended the day in the grasslands (G9) they were able to sleep the night away.

Day 77 04/20/2023
After a long night sleep the weight of all the deaths and exits weight on Chad’s mind. That’s when Chad talks the group into heading east taking the long way to the Gold Key Location (B34) as they are low on supplies and the long walk will let them gather money and other items to help them out before tackling Dungeon #4 (M13) or Dungeon #7 (W11). They begin by heading NE though some some hills (F10), forest (E11) and resting the night in some grasslands (D12).

Day 78 04/21/2023
They continue NE though desert (C13) with a catacomb entrance but the group decided to move on as they did not feel equipped to handle the structure. They found a village in a grassland (B14) but did not stop due to lack of funds. They ended the night in a desert (B15)

Day 79 04/22/2023
Today the headed due east though a grassland (B16) next was some hills (B17) that hid a lair entrance. They rested before heading inside.

Day 80 04/23/2023
They decided to head inside to room (A) where they were ambushed by six spiders. They made quick work of the creatures. In room (B) they found four bodies and they could sense something was off about them. So they carefully made thier way to room (C) which was piled high which trash and other debris. Ash looking though the trash piles found a spell scroll. That gave them a little hope and they continue to search.

Day 81 04/24/2023
They continued south room (D) was empty. Room (E) appeared to be empty as well but Zoey found a discarded map on the ground with terrain info on the area surrounding the wasteland (W12). Carrie also looking around found a secret door. Room (F) was filled four different traps but Chad with use of his magic was able to disarm all of them. They took a minute before opening room (G).

Walking on Paper Behind the Scenes: Days 68-75

04/18/2023

This is not going to be a normal feature but something to keep from clogging up the game logs. This post like the title suggests is a look at what happened on days 68-75 and my though process on the events that happened. This post covers the exits of two party members. My reworking of the Golem idea and some misc thoughts.

Lisa
When you visit the doctor in a settlement there is a chance that he finds one of your party members (PM) to injured to continue on. A roll of 1 on a D6 determines this. The person forced to retire is picked at random but some party members are immune to force retirement. Any party member that has been with the party less than 5 days. Which made Brick immune. One PM chosen by the player. Which I chose Chad. Lisa was unfortunate person to be forced to retire.

Unlike when a PM dies ones that are forced to retire are able to give up all their items, spells and magic gems. Player also gets to add 5XP for every * by the PM name on the party sheet back to the party XP pool. Which for Lisa was 10. It does cost $50 to the doctor for this event. Now if you can’t pay this amount then your party is saddled with a debt until you do.

The difference between forced retirement and death is that the player is able to get a small potion of XP spent on upgrading the PM back. In a sudden death like the case with Gary the party was only able to recover half of the items he was carrying. (Hence why I had a random Glob drag his body away) This is done by a D6 roll with results being 1: none 2-4: half rounded up 5/6: all items. When the PM is maimed, bleeding or poisoned they have time to pass stuff to the other PMs. (These statuses have not made it into the game fully yet)

Now on to how I handled the log of events in game. You may have noticed I said Brick was immune but if you read the log for Day 69 you will notice that it is stated after Lisa seen the doctor the group went to find more PMs. During game play I recruited Brick first then went to the doctor and found out Lisa was leaving. Since it wasn’t game breaking to the log or gameplay I just said they went to the doctor first. I also added in the line about Lisa having trouble walking in day 68. The throw away line I added in Day 62 about Lisa being hit in the head was a happy accident. When I write the logs I try to tell a story some times I am successful.

Golems
In the original design they are meant to take up a party slot and act as a sponge for damage. Which Brick does very well. The problem is I noticed a fatal flaw in the design which is by the golem taking up a party slot when the golem is destroyed it leaves the team weaker. I foolishly did not realize how deadly dungeons have become since switching to the new monster generating rules. After the first room of the Key Dungeon (H8) Brick took 15pts of damage leaving it with 1 Armor for the rest of the dungeon.

The first band aid I tried was being able to use the toolkit to repair the Golem. With it repairing 3 pts of armor per use of toolkit. Also future ability to upgrade this ability to repair 5pts per use. The original idea was golems couldn’t recover damage.

The second band aid was what to do with the golem after destroyed. I came up with if the party carries the parts to a city the golem can be repaired for a fee. I decided to make the parts take up two item slots.

Finally made it so the golem doesn’t take up a party slot but only one golem can be with the party at a time.
Now with all this being said I just played out Brick’s first run with the party with the hopes of making back to the city where I could get the party back on track before moving on.

Mary
Much like Gary she died from a monster using it last gasp attack to inflict a final blow. Unlike Gary I was paying attention to monsters and what they were doing. Andy can only heal 3 targets per combat turn so I chose to focus on the others leaving Mary out in the cold. Mary filled the role Lisa left behind well. Though what made Lisa such a useful hero was the first strike skill which let her set up a more favorable battle for the party.

I thinking of nerfing the Last Gasp Attack by doing a check where on a D6 a 4+ result would cause the dying monster to miss. This would also allow items/spells that can change or cancel checks to be used.

Misc Stuff
The rushed nature of Days 72-75 is due to me being frustrated at how things were going and me trying to force myself to a posting schedule that maybe harmful to the project. Day 75 is a cop out but I needed a moment to get my head back into the game and try not to put to much pressure on myself when small or large game breaking bugs come up.

Walking on Paper: Days 68-75

04/18/2023

Day 68 04/11/2023
They traveled though grasslands (U13) ,Hills (T14) and desert (T15) at each location they found various ruins, lairs and entrance to a random dungeon in the desert. They decided to move on as Lisa seem to have trouble walking. She assured them she was okay but they knew something was off. Though an easy night sleep is not what they got as they were attacked by four Slimes. The lack of a fifth member is taking it’s toll on the group.

Day 69 04/12/2023
They traveled to some grasslands before making it to city (T17) they immediately teleported to city (O11) as it was closest to key site (H8). Though when they exited the teleporter Lisa fell to the ground the group rushed to get her to the doctor. The doctor said Lisa should rest and let her body heal naturally and she should be back on her feet in a few months. Before the group could say anything Lisa told them to go on and complete their mission. That she knew something was wrong with her after the battle with Globs on Day 62 where she was knocked on the head. She didn’t say anything as she believed this was her punishment for Gary’s death. She handed over her equipment to the group and wished them a farewell. They paid the doctor to take care of Lisa until she was well enough to travel back home.

They sadly went to the local guild to find new recruits as they were down two members. They paid the entrance fee. They knew they needed a magic user who could make the best use of all the spells Lisa left behind. They found a person named Mary who was a Bookworm. They also brought a Golem named Brick to round out the group.

Their money was low so they bought an offensive spell for Mary. Some potions for Andy and stocked up on some gems which Zoey carried. They also cleared out their bank account as it was proving to be useless with Zoey’s extra item slots and backpack. They left the city poor but with hopes for better times ahead after the sad set backs with Lisa and Gary.
The group traveled north to key location (H8) they passed though some wastelands (N11) but was able to sleep easy that night.

Day 70 04/13/2023
The trek the next day was still north where they went though some grasslands (M11), wasteland (L11) and was able to rest the night in a forest (K11).

Day 71 04/14/2023
They traveled NW to key (H8) passing though wasteland (J10) and a desert (I9) that had a lair entrance present. They finally made it key location (H8) where a entrance to a dungeon was present. They entered the dungeon and in room (1) was five Spirts. They got rid of the spirts but Brick took heavy damage to it’s armor. Zoey took a few minutes to repair the Golem.

Day 72 04/15/2023
Into room (2) they went where they were met by four oozes. Brick finally took enough damage that it put the construct out of the fight. Zoey gathered the parts and put them in her back pack. they team took a lot of wounds but Andy was able to heal them up some. In room (4) they found some locked chests and some healing herbs. Room (8) held some keys and a gem.

Day 73 04/16/2023
Room (9) was an extra large room that contained lots of debris scattered about. A ooze, spirt, giant spider and skeleton also lurked in the room. The team is ill prepared for this onslaught. They barely made it though the fight. They moved on to room (10) this is where things really turned into a dumpster fire. Five ghosts were present in this room and they whipped the heroes like nothing has before. At the end of this fight Mary was dead and the other three heroes were in single digit HP. Using the clover ability to warp reailty the team grabs the diamond key and what was left of Mary’s possessions and got the out of the dungeon.

Day 74 04/17/2023
They make a quick travel toward city (H6) and reach it by the end of the day by traveling though some grasslands (H7). Low on money the group decides to rest up before they recruit any more members or do any more traveling.

Day 75 04/18/2023
Day of rest for the group nothing happens today. (BTS of what happen these few days)

Walking on Paper: Days Master List

Walking On Paper: Days 63-67

04/10/2023

Day 63 04/06/2023
The group made their way back to the entrance of the catacomb. Room (B5) was quiet and calm so they moved on to room (B4.1). Inside they found another room of trash. Hidden in the trash was a few items. While wading though the trash they were attacked by four Globs. Lisa have her wits about her was able to scare two of the Globs off using her Magic. The other two Globs must have felt Lisa was a threat as most of their attacks were aimed at her. The moved on and chose the overly bright room (B3.2) over the one with the red ghost skull in room (B3.1). Walking into Room (B3.2)Zoey felt a strange energy hit her and discovered an item missing from her pack. Even though they were braced for another ambush none came.

Day 64 04/07/2023
The group decided to go though the room (B2.3) with the locked chest hoping to pick up some useful items. They found some things but the not what they needed to even consider clearing the rest of the catacombs. Room (B1) was empty and no Globs were seen. They reached the entrance room (3) where the family was reconnected. The party lead the way to the exit in room (1). They were gonna seal the Globs in but the Man who was trapped with the father said others might be trapped inside and to leave it open. The party not wanted to argue with the man left the entrance alone. After brief talks with the family the group escorted the family as far as town (W5) before making a direct route to city (T17) the decided on this route because they could check on what was needed to enter dungeon #7 (W11) before resupply and recruitment in the city.

Day 65 04/08/2023
They started their trek by passing some wastelands with another catacomb entrance (X4), Grassland (X5) and mountains (X6) rounded out the day. They were able to sleep without trouble that night. A pretty quiet day.

Day 66 04/09/2023
This day was another quiet one as they passed though wasteland with a catacomb entrance (X7), hills with a Lair entrance (X8) and wastelands with yet another catacomb entrance (X9). They got another peaceful night sleep.

Day 67 04/10/2023
Traveling NE toward dungeon #7 (W11) they pass though more wastelands (X10) with ruins present. When they reach dungeon #7 it has a gold lock on it. Chad looks at the map and sees some strange writing on the edges that was not there before. He gets Andy to try to decode the words. Andy reads the passage out loud “To reach the last Lord of Monsters you must have all of his brother’s heads in your possession.” Zoey says sounds like the location of the last dungeon won’t appear until we take out Dungeon #4 (J26) and #7 (W11). Lisa says but where do we find the keys to the dungeons. Chad says that passage wasn’t the only thing to pop up on the map. Where previously Chad marked the locations of clue sites (H08 & B34) two small key icons appear. Well we know where we need to go now on to city (T17) and then get these keys. They made their way NE leaving the site of dungeon #7 (W11) behind. The rest the night in grassland (V12) where they could see ruins in the distance.

Walking on Paper: Days Master List
Due to scheduling conflicts the next post will be delayed until 04/18/2023

Walking On Paper: Days 58-62

04/05/2023

Day 58 04/01/2023
They travel into room (A8.3) the dim looking room they passed on earlier but it still looked better than the room with the red floating ghost skull in room (A8.1). Walking though the room they found some money but nothing else. The way to the stairway in room (A7) was clear but once they reached the top of the stairs in room (A6) they were ambushed by two Globs. They were able to stop the creatures but everyone got banged up in the fight. After the fight Andy took a few minutes to tend to the group’s wounds.

Day 59 04/02/2023
The party moved into room (A5) even though they heard some noise no Globs attacked. Zoey disarmed a trap in room (A4.2) but nothing else was present. Things changed when they got to room (A3) six Globs came out of no where. They almost lost the little girl but Andy was able to save the kid with some spells. They took a rest while waiting on Andy patching up the little girl.

Day 60 04/03/2023
The Globs stuck again in room (A2) this time it was the rest of the group’s turn to get tossed around as the Globs left the little girl alone. Luckily room (A1) was clear and nothing unexpected happened. They made back to Room (3) where they team showed the mother where her son was hiding out. Once the three of them were safe the group had decided even though supplies were low and they were feeling the bumps from the fight they would try to find the father. They heading for the door to (B1)

Day 61 04/04/2023
As they entering the room (B1) they watched the red ghost skull swallow a golden ball of light. It then face towards the group and exploded releasing a red wave of energy though the structure. Lisa said “I got a bad feeling about that”. They faced three doors with windows set in them. Room (B2.1) had a fountain like structure in the middle of the room. Room (B2.2) appeared to be empty but the light was low. Room (B2.3) had a chest in the center of the room with many strong looking chains and locks around it. To save supplies they chose Room (B2.1) and it appeared to be a good choice as when Andy tested the water it seem to contain healing properties. They drunk some of the water and some of their minor wounds healed. Once on the other side the exit door came out into a antechamber where three more doors with windows appeared before them. Room (B3.1) had another red ghost skull in it. Room (B3.2) was bright and appeared empty. Room (B3.3) appeared to be empty but the light was low. They decided on the darken room as when they went though room (A8.3) which also had low light the room turned out to be empty. So they venture forward and the room turned out to be empty their hunch was right. They came upon another antechamber but the two doors on the other side had no windows.

Day 62 04/05/2023
Today was a bad Day they entered room (B4.2) and were instantly attacked by five Globs. The team was being dragged though the meat grinder. At different points during the fight Chad, Lisa and Gary were on the verge of death. Andy was burning though his stock of healing items and using his magic gems up. Lisa may have gotten knocked on her head to hard as she forgot to use any of her spells to stop the monstrous onslaught. She learned the lesson the hard way as Gary was killed by a Glob when it made a last ditch effort to hurt the party before it died. They could not do nothing for Gary as they were trying to save their skins from the the two remaining Globs in the room. They barely finished the Globs off and made their way to Gary’s body. A blue tentacle shot from the wall and grabbed his body they fought with the creature but all they did was spread Gary’s belonging all over the floor as his body disappeared into the new hole in the wall. In a sad state they picked up what was left of Gary’s property and most of it was thrown into Zoey’s backpacks. Andy gathered all magic gems from the rest of the group and began to heal the remaining members. (BTS of why Gary died)

Chad states with the way this place is made there will be no way for us to get back to this room if we leave now. It’s best if we move forward and try to reunite the family. I will say this though if we make it back to the entrance we are leaving as we now know we were not prepared for this place.

Room (B5) had three Globs present they fought long and hard they got close but never as low in health as the previous room. Being filled with rage at the death of their teammate might have given the extra boost they needed to win the fight. They started to wonder among themselves if the Red energy wave released in room (B1) somehow made the Globs stronger. As they entered room (B6) they found two men chained to the walls and one of them looked like the father the mother described to them. They freed the men and plotted their course back to the entrance. (Andy and Lisa were able to level up from all the fights and money they gathered)

Walking on Paper: Days Master List

Log of the Dead: Intro and Day 1

04/05/2023

This is a small side project that can run along side Walking on Paper. I am using this game system to write this log. I plan on posting entries that cover seven days in the game world. Below is Day 1 and my home made tracker.

Day 01 04/04/2023
Max started the apocalypse in his home town of Appleton. The origins of Red 13 Plague that swept the country is unknown but once Max seen the news reports coming from the big cities he knew it was time to head to the garden shed bunker. Six months later his bunker was falling apart as it was not designed for long term use. So Max heads out into Appleton to gather items to help restock his food supplies and also items to repair his bunker. Today goal is to find batteries and other electronics to fix his solar system (need 5 supplies).

After ducking and dodging the few zombies he has seen so far he made it to the High School a couple miles from his bunker. Outside the High School spray painted on the wall was a “Y” in a circle. Searching though the empty school he did find some food in the lunch room (8 resources) and some basic meds (3 resources) in the nurse’s office. When he hit up the computer class he was able to scavenge a few electronics for his needs. Even though he was quiet in his searching he felt like he was being followed. He moved on to auto shop where he found the batteries (5 supplies). Thinking he pushed he luck enough for the day he made his way back to his bunker and used the rest of the day repairing his solar setup.

Basic Framework for Generating Hostile Structures

03/31/2023

Like with my combat post I have created a framework for others to use while stripping out anything that ties to my homebrew world Walking On Paper. These generators are built with solo play in mind and also have a plug and play feel. You can use all of them or just one. The names are just so I can tell them apart when playing. Hopefully these are helpful and feel free to change them to fit your needs.

Dungeons
Catacombs
Monster Lairs

Walking On Paper: Days 53-57

03/31/2023

Day 53 03/27/2023
They made their way though the secret door in a wide open room. Across the room in the dim light they saw a boy swinging a crude club at a group of creatures that appeared to be slimes but they had a skeletal structure that you could see though thier transparent blue skin. Some had multiple limbs and heads. Once the Party set foot in the room the creatures ran from the room into one of the 3 doors. The boy ran up to the group and stated you have to find my family those Globs dragged us down here for some unknown reason. I was able to fight some off before they caught up with me in this room. Chad tells the boy they will look for his family and for him to go though the secret door and into the store room and barricade the door until they give the signal to open it. The boy follows the instructions and leaves the party.

Andy spoke up this is a catacomb you can tell by the way the room is built. Those Globs as the boy called them infest this place. Rumors say they were created when the red mists swept the land all those years ago. The freshly dead bodies mixed with the long dead ones in these places created a new life form. We need to be careful as not much is known about these structures.

Well lets get moving before those Globs have much time to warn their friends Chad told the group. They decided to take (A) door first. Inside room (A1) there is a weird energy around the area. Zoey while grabbing her tool kit to disarm a trap she notices an item missing. At that point 5 globs appear and attack the party. They took heavy damage but was able to survive the assault. Moving into room (A2) the weird energy is still around them Zoey tells the group another item is missing. 3 Globs appear this time and the group takes some hits but are able to survive. Before moving on they search the room but found nothing. Room (A3) had a locked chest and a trap that Zoey quickly disarmed. Chad tried to use his Magic Key spell on the chest but the spell would not work. Zoey used the lockpick she had to open the chest. The group healed up and check their supplies to see if they had anything missing like Zoey.

Day 54 03/28/2023
On the other side of Room (A3) was two doors. They couldn’t hear anything at the doors so just picked one at random and continued forward. They triggered something when they came though the door because as soon as everyone was in the room a portcullis dropped sealing the door. Gary stated well it’s going to fun trying to get out now. Room (A4.1) was empty nothing was present except for the two doors one now sealed and the other leading forward. So forward they went. The door they moved though to get into room (A5) sealed it self shut as well. They did see two other doors one on the wall next to the sealed door and the other on the opposite side of the room leading forward. First they searched (A5) and found it empty as well. They decided to keep going forward to room (A6). room (A6) was empty as well but had a set of stairs leading down. The group took a min to update their map before heading down stairs.

Day 55 03/29/2023
They move down the stairs to room (A7) and see piles of trash everywhere. Zoey stops Chad before he triggers a trap and is able to disarm it before it hurts anyone. While this is going on a ghostly red skull begins floating above the trash and appears to be sizing the group up. Andy is able to preform a spell to dispel the wicked looking being before it could do harm. They searched the trash piles and found some money. The three doors that lead forward all had a small window in the door so you can see inside. Room (A8.1) had another one of those red ghost skulls floating in the room. The group say no that noise and went to look in the other windows. Room (A8.2) had just a simple chest with no lock inside. Room (A8.3) you couldn’t tell what was inside the room due to the low light but nothing seemed to be moving around. They went with the door to room (A8.2) as it appeared to be the safest. Like the floor above once they moved into the room the door was sealed behind them. They found money in the chest and not much else in the room.

They moved on though the only open door in the room which lead to a antechamber where the door to room (A8.2) sealed behind them. There was two other windowed doors on the wall besides the sealed door they looked in on the same rooms (A8.1 & A8.3) that were seen in room (A7). on the opposite side of the small antechamber were three door with no windows. Nothing could be heard outside the doors. The team picked on and ventured forward. Once in room (A9.3) like all the times before the door sealed shut behind them. Zoey spotted a trap and was able to disarm the machine before it hurt anyone. They took a moment to update their map before moving on.

Day 56 03/30/2023
The second has been kind to the team not many globs are seen and but this maze of doors is wearing thin on their sanity. On the other side of the exit door from Room (A9.3) was another antechamber set up like the one before but there was only 2 doors on the opposite side of the room. Both doors had no way to tell what was on the other side. So they picked one at random and room (A10.1) was the room they ended up in. The strange energy was back and Chad yelped at a feeling of something in his pockets. He checked and discovered some of the party’s money was gone. They drowned out the noise of the doors sealing behind them as they headed into another antechamber. With another two doors on the forward facing wall. They picked one and kept moving wondering when this will end. In room (A11.1) the strange energy was around but this time it was Gary telling the party an item he had was missing. Moving on to Room (12) this room had a woman and little girl dressed in rags chained to the far wall. They looked up when the noise from the door sealing woke them up. They freed the two and tried talking to the woman as the little girl seemed frighten out of her mind. They explained they going to get them out of the place and about the boy they found waiting above. The mention of the boy got her attention and she asked did they see her husband and other family. they told her sadly no but their other parts of the structure they have not looked in. As Andy took care of their wounds the group prepared to travel back to the entrance to where the boy was left. They began to hear loud wails coming from the directions they were planning on traveling.

Day 57 03/31/2023
They travel to room (A11.2) where they found some loot. No signs of Globs yet. Room (A10.2) had one of those red ghostly skull floating in the room but besides scaring the mother and her child nothing happened. It just disappeared. Room (A9.1) was full of trash and the group was careful moving though it as anything could be hiding in the shin high debris. While searching Gary did find an item. The little girl started getting ansy about wanting to get out. They took a moment to let the mother calm her down.

WIP Quest System

03/27/2023

Below is a rough outline of my ideas on a quest system for my solo game Walking on Paper. The idea is to have a deck of quests or random table with a large number of smaller adventures. This is inspired by the side quest cards but wanted to add a little choose your own adventure flair to the quests. Also a some non random choices as well. Here is a sample of template I am using to create the quest and a sample WIP of a quest.

Find Airship Parts
You are hired to find and recover parts to an airship that crashed in the wildness 5 blocks north of the city. If you bring the parts back you will gain $X. The parts take up two item slots and are too large to be placed in a backpack. They also slow your movement down to two blocks a day once you recover them.
Once you reach the site of the crash roll a D6 if the results are a 5 or 6 then you found the parts with no difficulties and may start your trek back to the city to get the reward. If not continue below.

Quest Part 1 Roll D4 to continue (some quests may not have a random draw)
1–You see the airship crash site but another group is already on the seen..(part2.1)
2–The crash site has been looted and tracks lead off in…(part2.2)
3–Where the crash site is suppose to be is a…(part2.3)
4–You find the parts but you feel a presence in the wilderness around you..(part2.4)

Quest part 2.1
The other group raiding the crash site sees you and gets ready to attack the group. The group has no knowledge of the bounty on the parts. What do you do?
1–Try to talk to the group to come to a peaceful agreement. roll D6 on a roll 4+ you successfully talked the group down and you agree to $X for the parts. Quest Ends return the parts If you fail go to #2
2–Fight the group. Roll up a random party of five heroes. Using the NPC party rules. If at the beginning of a combat turn the NPC group has three or less members standing then the others will attempt to runaway. Roll D6 if a 4+ the members of the NPC group runaway. On a 6 the escaping group takes the parts with them. Refer to Quest part 2.2.

Quest part 2.2 (a chase like minigame against NPC party from 2.1 or another group)
Quest part 2.3 (airship crashes into a hostile structure. party goes in side to find the parts)
Quest part 2.4 (the airship crash awoken a beast that begins stalking the party)

As this is just a sample I did not want to carry the quest to completion just enough to get my idea across.

The Quest would continue on until the party has the parts and is able to return to town to collect the bounty. One thinking is to add a twist type ending to one of the paths where their was never any parts and the whole quest is a ruse to get bodies for a ritual or something.

Anyway have other ideas for other quests but the main goal is to have a system where even though I know some of the quest information the quest will and can play out differently each time I play the quest. I plan on using other things for inspiration.

Also have simple quests mixed in like escort some farmers back home after delivering goods into the city. It would make wilderness encounters more frequent and maybe a few surprises along the way. Though none of the branching paths of the example above.
